Modifications and Methodology

This 5-day module will cover methodology, modifications of asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques developed for mature students. You will gain the knowledge of how the senior body moves best through a yoga practice along with the skills and confidence for working with this special cohort.

The module has 20 continuing education credits (CEC) assigned to it. These CEC may be applied to a 300-hour or 500-hour accreditation through Tejas Yoga.

Please note: For this module there is a 16-person maximum and 5-person minimum. You must register one week prior to the start of the program or have a deposit down of $100 to reserve your space.

If the course is canceled due to low attendance, you will be notified 7 days prior to the start date and will receive a full refund.

Technique Training/Practice: 7.5 hours

Practice will include:

  • Asana practice at each session
  • Sequencing and home practice
  • Hands-on adjustments

Theory/Philosophy: 7.5 hours

Topics will include:

  • Healing versus curing
  • Yoga philosophy and sanyas

Methodology/Practicum: 5 hours

Topics will include:

  • Individual modification
  • Develop poses for arthritis, asthma, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and depression
  • Sequence classes for seniors
  • Teach basic breathing exercises
  • Instruct meditation
  • Create guided deep relaxation techniques

Handouts will be provided.
