Delve deeper into the intricacies of designing an asana class while incorporating ayurvedic principles and the subtleties of the season. Elevate your understanding of how the doshas play a role within the sequence of a class. This module has 30 continuing education credits (CEC) and may be applied to a 300-hour or 500-hour accreditation through Tejas Yoga. Limited to 15 students.

Technique Training/Practice: 7.5 hours

Morning practice will emphasize:

Practice of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, meditation, visualization

  • A specific physical practice to balance each dosha
  • Pranayama to balance/pacify each dosha
  • Practice of mudras and bandhas to support a desired effect
  • Advanced Vata pacifying practice
  • Meditation and visualization techniques

Theory/Philosophy: 7.5 hours

Topics will include:

  • The roots of ayurveda and yoga
  • Samkhya Philosophy
  • Integration of yoga asana and ayurveda
  • Unveiling the relationship among the chakras, vayus and the doshas
  • Sattva, Rajas, Tamas
  • Pranayama for Vata, Pitta and Kapha

Methodology/Practicum: 15 hours

Afternoon session will include:

  • Practice of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, meditation and visualization
  • Building a Vata pacifying class
  • Building a Pitta pacifying class
  • Building a Kapha pacifying class
  • Determining what type of yoga practice is right for you
  • Lessons in teaching general asana classes while applying ayurveda
