Mia Park is passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga. She teaches Tantric Hatha through the lineage of Rod Stryker. This style weaves together chanting, pranayama (breathing exercises), asa na (poses) and meditation for a balanced practice.
Mia found yoga while teaching cardio kick boxing in 2002. She was amazed to discover how balanced she felt after practicing yoga. Yoga helped Mia create a calmness that was vital to her active life of playing in rock bands and acting. She met her yoga teacher, Yogarupa Rod Stryker, in 2005 and is in the process of becoming a certified ParaYoga Level I Teacher.
Energy follows awareness. Mia teaches that when there is awareness of the breath, the energy needed to work through physical and other issues follows. Mia teaches with an emphasis on moving prana, life force. Every body is different, so Mia teaches with a multi-level approach. She believes that every yoga practice should be catered to the individual with an emphasis on the function of the pose, rather than perfecting its form.
Mia is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher as well as a 200 hour Certified Yoga Teacher and has completed over 500 hours of yoga teacher training. She is grateful to study yoga with her two favorite teachers, Rod Stryker and Gary Kraftsow. Mia also studied with Aadil Palkhivala, Shiva Rea, Barbara Benagh, Mitchell Bleier, Anna Forrest, Swami Shankardev, Rolf Solvik, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D., Dharma Mittra, Leslie Kaminoff, Nicholai Bachman and Mark Whitwell.
Mia teaches in yoga studios and athletic clubs in Chicago, as well as in Chicago Public Schools. She teaches to private clients and volunteer instructs at a domestic violence shelter for women.
