Adam Polhemus remembers his first introduction to Ashtanga in 1998, it was Madonna on the Rosie O’Donnell show. He quickly sought more info on this practice but it wasn’t until the mid 2000’s that he would incorporate a daily practice into his life. Eventually following his passion into learning more, he sought out senior teachers who shared his love for studying the physical, mental, and the subtle aspects of yoga. Adam has completed teacher trainings in Jivamukti (Sharon Gannon & David Life), power yoga/vinyasa and multiple trainings in the ashtanga method; including first, second and third series, all with Timj Miller at Ashtanga Yoga Center. As an ex-professional athlete, his classes incorporate modern biomechanics and knowledge of the body into the more traditional practice of asana. Whether it’s leading a teacher training in Alabama, studying the Bhagavad Gita in New York, practicing in California with Timji or teaching yoga psychology in North Carolina, Adam has spent the majority of his adult life practicing and studying Yoga in all its facets. When not teaching yoga, Adam spends time with his best friends; Oskar Mathilda, a small dog with the biggest heart and his tiny traveling garden of plants he collected through teaching. He is from Birmingham, Alabama but now lives in Chicago, Illinois
