Self-Practice: 50 hours

Reading/Homework/Assignments: Average of 2-3 hours per week
Is this training for me?
The Foundational-level Apprenticeship Course is a great choice for anyone who has been studying yoga for at least one full year. If you’ve had no formal teacher training, have a genuine interest in developing the ability to teach group classes, and are willing to devote 12 months to completing this training, this course is for you! With a fairly flexible training schedule, allowing for 1-2 weekend days per month for small-group training, our program suits many lifestyles. Expect to reserve 2-3 hours per week for reading and assignments in addition to the classes you’ll be attending.

Our hope is to not only provide you with a deep understanding of yoga and its related disciplines, but also a sense of confidence in who you are as a teacher. We want you to feel confident teaching your own classes by the end of this program. While that includes the technical elements of preparing, leading and holding the space for a class, we will also help you develop and find your own voice as a teacher and advise you on how to get your teaching career started. These sessions allow us to work with each individual personally and co-discover one’s own innate strengths and growth opportunities.

You are expected to attend 30-35 group classes with Jim, James and/or Jenni. During the first part of the training you will be observing the classes. Once you’re ready, you will start assisting the teacher, slowly taking on more and more responsibilities, until you will lead your own practice classes. Jim, James, and Jenni will be available for any questions you might have after observing and assisting group classes.

Camaraderie and Small-Group Learning
Together, we will share a 12-month journey of self-discovery and collaborative learning. In addition to attending group classes together, you will also attend small-group learning sessions throughout the year. All sessions take place on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Exact times and dates will be announced after group consideration.

These trainings are designed to evoke discussion, hands-on learning, and peer-support. Many participants ask pertinent questions and the topic discussion tends to be more lively and informative. The cohort dynamic creates a safe and fun environment to learn from one another along the guidance of the teacher.

READING AND ASSIGNMENTS
Several written and reading assignments will be required throughout the year. Reading enhances knowledge, vocabulary, critical thinking, and memory, while written assignments develop communication skills, improve comprehension, and provide a way to synthesize information. These assignments are curated to enhance your ability to articulate and process new concepts.
