Living in Harmony with Nature Series - Summer with James Tennant

The Living in Harmony with Nature workshops is a four-part series that draws on the ancient science of ayurveda — science of life in Sanskrit — to provide insight into each of the four seasons. Ayurveda is a system of holistic medicine with its roots in ancient India and the Himalayas. In this segment of the series, we’ll discuss summer and the ayurvedic principles associated with it.

James will present practices and poses you can incorporate into your sequence for a cool, calm, and healthy summer. Following a brief lecture that explores concepts, techniques, and practices on maintaining optimum health throughout summer, you’ll take part in a led asana (physical poses) practice that illustrates how to incorporate ayurveda into the practice of yoga. Subtle practices including pranayama (breathing techniques), visualization, and meditation will be presented.

This workshop also explores signs and symptoms of imbalance in the body, as well as the main sites within the body most likely to be affected. In addition, the workshop includes general information on diet and lifestyle choices to suit the season. These helpful hints will help you to regain and maintain physical, mental, and emotional balance during the summer.

Prior knowledge of ayurveda is helpful but not necessary. Beginner-to-intermediate students are welcome. You can register for this workshop on its own or as a part of a four-pack Living in Harmony in Nature set.

Please wear clothes comfortable for yoga practice.
