NYE: Celebrating Possibility

The beginning of each new year crackles with possibility like a newly acquired gift being unwrapped. Wintertime is a season of dormancy, a quiet time in the cycle of life and creativity in which new insights, attitudes, and concepts may emerge. So much will go on as before, and yet we celebrate the possibility of influencing the way that things will change. Spend some of the last hours of 2021 on self-care and introspection. Start 2022, relaxed, restored, and ready for your best year yet.

The Yoga of Meditation with Jim Bennitt

This workshop will focus on striking a balance between the two, using just the right amount of physical effort to prepare your body so you can take a comfortable seat and reap some of the benefits of a longer meditation.

Dinacharya Workshop with James Tennant

Dinacharya is a Sanskrit word derived from several root words: "din" meaning day, "cha" to walk forward, "acharya", a learned teacher, and "charya" meaning practiced wisdom. Dinacharya, therefore, means daily or regular routine established in wisdom. In yoga and ayurveda, there is much emphasis placed on healthy habits developed by practicing a mindful and informed dinacharya. In this workshop, we will come to understand how simple, routine practices can bring more enjoyment, peace, and improved health into our lives.

Introduction to Pancha Kleshas with James Tennant

The Sanskrit word Pancha means five and klesha, can be translated as affliction or poison. In The Yoga Sutras, Patanjali refers to Ignorance (Avidya), Egoism (Asmita), Raga (Attachment), Dvesa (Aversion), and Fear of Death (Abhinivesa) as five causes to suffering and an impediment to liberation.

Join James for 20 minutes of gentle movement and 20 minutes of internal practices. The remaining time we’ll focus on exploring the Pancha Kleshas. As we refer to the ancient texts and our own personal experiences, we’ll reveal how these mental and emotional states impact our daily lives both in gross and subtle ways.
