Dinacharya is a Sanskrit word derived from two root words: “dina” meaning day and “charya” meaning behavior or regimen. Dinacharya, therefore, means daily routine or regimen. In yoga and ayurveda, there is much emphasis placed on healthy habits developed by practicing a mindful and informed dinacharya. In this workshop, we will come to understand how simple, routine practices can bring more enjoyment, peace, and improved health into our lives.
This workshop will encourage awareness of your daily patterns and habits. Over time, many of us have developed routines and habits not so beneficial to our bodies and minds. It is not uncommon to feel scattered as we rush through daily activities or to feel exhausted at the end of the day, only to go to bed feeling anxious and restless.
Several cleansing techniques (kriyas) will be covered in depth, including agni sara, and how to use a neti pot (nasal/sinus cleansing). We will also discuss the benefits of daily tongue cleaning and therapeutic oil massage (abhyanga).
There will be a brief overview of herbal supplementation and general guidelines for eating appropriately in each season.
By using the information in this workshop, we will come to know how ritual, routine, a regular physical practice, and meditation bring more meaning to our daily lives.
