Living in Harmony with Nature Series - Spring with James Tennant

Untitled design(37).png

The Living in Harmony with Nature workshops is a four-part series that draws on the ancient science of ayurveda — science of life in Sanskrit — to provide insight into each of the four seasons. Ayurveda is a system of holistic medicine with its roots in ancient India and the Himalayas. In this segment of the series, we’ll discuss spring and the ayurvedic principles associated with it.

James will present practices and poses you will be able to incorporate into a sequence. Through these helpful hints, we will learn how to regain and/or maintain balance physically, mentally, and emotionally during this time of year. Some of the asana practice (physical poses) you will experience yourself, while other techniques and concepts will be presented to show the different ways you can incorporate this knowledge into the practice of yoga. More subtle practices such as pranayama (breathing techniques), visualization, and meditation will also be presented.

We will learn what signs/symptoms give us an indication of imbalance in the body as well as the main sites within the body that have the most potential for being affected. In addition, there will be some general information on diet and lifestyle choices to suit the season.

Prior knowledge of ayurveda is helpful but not necessary. Beginner-to-intermediate students are welcome. You can register for this workshop on its own or as a part of a four-pack Living in Harmony in Nature set.

Please wear clothes comfortable for yoga practice.
