Ayurveda (ah-yer-vay-da) is an ancient philosophy, science, medicine, and art of daily living. Ayur means “life” and veda means “knowledge.” This system has its roots in ancient India and is considered by many to be the oldest healing system in existence.

Ayurveda's principles are based on the five elements: ether, air, fire, water, and earth. The philosophy further explains how these elements form three fundamental, universal forces called doshas that regulate all natural processes on both macrocosmic and microcosmic levels.

In this workshop, we will come to an understanding of what these universal energies/principles are and how they relate to our psycho-physiological makeup. We will also see how they are affected by external sources.

We will learn about the 20 gunas (qualities), discuss how they relate to our body-mind, and how we can use them therapeutically.

This workshop will also help the individual assess his/her own body and mind to know when it is in a balanced state and when it is imbalanced. Ayurveda seeks to heal the disorder of the mind-body complex and restore wholeness and harmony to one's self.

The event is open to all those with a desire to learn more about this system of healing.
